Layla is a Brazilian-Dutch designer based in Brussels. A 2025 graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven, her practice spans communication, product and concept development. Raised in Rio de Janeiro, she grew up in a city where heat extends beyond the climate into its culture and social friction. The coexistence of beauty and hardship, combined with years spent in Europe within an international community, shaped her into both an observer and a shape-shifter. It fostered a critical yet empathetic lens through which she sees and questions the world around her. Curiosity and experimentation guide her work, allowing the process itself to become a source of discovery rather than simply a way to execute a predetermined idea. She is drawn to the unfamiliar, whether through materials, techniques or themes, and to questioning the assumptions embedded within them: in method, use or meaning. Across her work, a transformative and energetic approach puts objects, norms and systems into perspective. As her practice continues to evolve, Layla seeks to deepen the dialogue between research, making and visual storytelling, driven by curiosity, motivated by wonder and grounded in adaptability.
