About me

My name is Layla, I am a 22 year old designer graduate from the Design Academy of Eindhoven.
I’m from Brazil, Rio de Janeiro.
I moved to the Netherlands at 18 years old to pursue my dreams for creating, for passion, for freedom and indolence.

I found my place in a school in which I was encouraged to experiment, to express, but most of all, to question. Question techniques, norms, patterns, systems and myself. This process allowed me to have an acute growth as a professional and as a person.

I could say my passion lays in two pilars: the how and the who.
The ‘how’ represents interest in making, creating, working with my hands. I am a hands-on designer.

The who represents my interest in connecting with people. My projects aim for interpersonal topics and creating bridges between different fields.

I started this journey with being taught how to use a drill or how to take a nail out with a hammer. I conclude this phase with being nominated for the Melkeweg award, having a lot of confidence and pride in my journey. Now I seek for a new phase, new obstacles and space to evolve.
