Flippos are collectible plastic discs once found in Dutch and Belgian chip bags in the late 90s. For a project, I bought a collection on Marktplaats and was drawn to their funky shapes and bright colours. They felt unexpectedly familiar to me, resembling something I could imagine finding in Brazil rather than Northern Europe.

As I considered the childhood nostalgia these objects carried, I began reflecting on my own memories and the contrast between our cultural backgrounds. I decided to bring these worlds together by assembling the Flippos into a carnival-inspired top, using the colours of the Brazilian flag as a loose reference.
